Dublin and Kilkenny played out a thrilling Leinster Hurling Championship round robin clash yesterday, with a late goal from Eoin Cody enough to secure a 1-28 to 2-23 victory for the Cats at Parnell Park.
This was a match that Dublin may well feel that they should have won. While they did not take the lead until the 55th minute of the contest, they would hold the advantage heading into the closing moments of the game. However, the goal from Cody ensured that Kilkenny would not suffer a second successive poor result on the back of their draw with Carlow last time out.
It was certainly an opportunity missed for the Dubs, although some feel as though they were fortunate to keep their full compliment of players on the pitch for the entirety of the contest.

Focus on dangerous hurling tackles after Dublin-Kilkenny incident
The incident in question occurred during injury time of yesterday's hurling game.
With Dublin on the attack in an attempt claw back the Kilkenny lead, one of their players would make a strong run through the middle third.
However, Dublin player Danny Sutcliffe would then produce a questionable off the ball hit on Kilkenny's Cian Kenny. It went unpunished at the time.
You can see the incident below.
Really nasty off the ball shoulder on Cian Kenny in the Dublin Kilkenny game today. Yet another example of a highly dangerous challenge going unpunished in hurling at the moment.

It certainly didn't look good.
Quite a few hurling fans made it clear that they were keen for such incidents to be removed from the sport.
In the NFL it’s called a blindside block and has recently been made illegal due to the high number of concussions players were suffering as a result.

Not the first game this year it has happened in

Sufcliffe had previously been booked for a high challenge on Kilkenny's Mikey Butler earlier in the match.
This is the type of incident that the GAA are keen to cut out from the game. Big hits on unsighted players have the potential to do real damage to an opponent.
While this was Dublin first defeat of the Leinster Hurling Championship, it does put quite a bit of pressure on them heading into next weekend's game against Galway.
As for Kilkenny, they now top the group and know that a victory at home against Wexford next time out will be enough to secure their spot in the provincial final.
