An 'epic' free, 'a great sporting moment' was how Joe Brolly described Donie Smith's 74th minute equalising kick in the All-Ireland quarter-final between Mayo and Roscommon at Croke Park.

He also added that Smith's hometown of Boyle and specifically Dodd's Bar would be his preferred spot tonight.

I know everyone in Dodd's will be raising a glass of stout to him this evening, I wish I was up there.

Five minutes earlier, Paddy Durcan had given Mayo the lead with his second point of the game.

With the clock three minutes in the red, Roscommon were awarded a free after a Mayo defender had touched the ball on the ground.

Up stepped a nerveless Smith - who had already kicked one point after coming on as a second half substitute - to bomb over his second score of the game.
