UPDATE: The tweet and picture have now been deleted by Alan Nestor
DIT player Alan Nestor has apologised for the picture he tweeted on Saturday night of him posing naked with only a strategically placed Sigerson Cup sparing his blushes.
Nestor was pictured celebrating in the aftermath of DIT's Sigerson Cup Final victory over UCC.
I would like to publicly apologise to DIT & GAA. I had no intentions of disrespecting the history behind the GAA, DIT & The Sigerson Cup.

Quoted in today's Irish Daily Star, HE GAA Chairman Ray O'Brien said:
What I would expect would happen would be for us to contact DIT in order to ask for their response to what happened. This is a serious matter and it could be seen as bringing the Association into disrepute. If we have to take disciplinary action, we will. But we would probably prefer if this matter was dealt with in-house by DIT.
The tweet and picture in question.
We hope this doesn't discourage GAA players from posting #naked photos of themselves on social media. Talk of this photo bringing institutions or cup tournaments into disrepute is a bit over the top, in our eyes (but then again, our website is called balls.ie.)
