Mullingar Shamrocks defeated Killucan 3-11 to 2-10 in Group B of the Westmeath Senior Football Championship at Cusack Park on Saturday.
The highlight of the game - a sensational solo goal by Mullingar cornerback Dillon Matthews - happened just after the first half waterbreak.
With Killucan leading 1-3 to 0-5, Mullingar goalkeeper Philly Shaw kicked short to Eddie Moore, who then played the ball out to Matthews in the right cornerback slot.
Matthews took off on a run which would see no one else touch the ball until Killucan goalkeeper David Bryan picked it from the back of the net.
"From now on this match will be remembered as the Dillon Matthews Goal Game," reads the match report from Mullingar Shamrock.
It was not just the length of the run from Matthews which made it a great goal, but also the left-footed finished which hit the top right-hand corner of the net.
The victory was Mullingar's second of the championship.
