Talking Points is Balls.ie's new weekly GAA show in partnership with Sky Sports GAA which will run every Monday between now and the All-Ireland Football Final in September.

With the help of the Sky Sports punditry team, we'll be looking back at the weekend that was and getting deeper into what you're talking about on a Monday morning.

The main Talking Point for our first episode was undoubtedly Diarmuid Connolly's altercation with a linesman during Dublin's win over Carlow in Portlaoise on Saturday night. Be it that the book should be thrown at him and he should be treated the same as everyone else (Non Dublin fans) or there was nothing in it and it's a total witchhunt (Dublin fans), it's definitely got everyone talking this weekend.

One man who definitely thinks what Connolly did was out of order was Jim McGuinness. The former Donegal manager and Sky Sports pundit discussed the incident after the game on Saturday night and this was one of the main talking points on this week's show.

McGuinness did point out that this is something that really isn't that unusual in the GAA for some reason.

In other sports, if you touch an official, it's an automatic red card, and there'd be no questions asked. It's probably not the culture in our own sport. And even the linesman, he doesn't really take offence to what has happened there.

Despite that, he was fiercely critical of Connolly for his behaviour.

Diarmuid Connolly should know better. It's not the first time this has happened, it's happening over and over and over. You try to give people and break and you try to look on their best side, but the reality is he shouldn't be getting involved with the linesman.

There's definitely a lot more to come in this Connolly story with both sides incredibly passionate about the issue.

The first show also includes analysis from Peter Canavan on Dublin's kickout strategy on both ends of the field, Jamesie O'Connor on where Clare will need to improve, we talk to Nicky English on next week's Wexford and Kilkenny clash, and we pick our first GAA Fan of the Week.
