We could have another overnight job on our hands.

Diarmuid Connolly will reportedly learn tonight as to whether his 12-week suspension for pushing a linesman will be upheld or lifted.

Earlier today it was suggested that Connolly would learn his fate by as early as Wednesday night, but The Irish Examiner reported today that Connolly would instead be heard tonight.

Gordon Manning of The Irish Sun has also tweeted explaining he's had it confirmed to him that the hearing will take place tonight as opposed to tomorrow.

A result is likely at All Hours a.m. just as it was in 2015, when Connolly was cleared to face Mayo in the early hours of the Saturday of their All-Ireland semi-final replay.

Connolly was suspended for 12 weeks for 'minor physical interference' with linesman Ciarán Brannigan, shoving him backwards in protest at a decision having escaped the clutches of several Carlow players on the sideline.

Incidentally, minor physical interference with a match official is in direct breach of GAA rule 5.32, which literally states that a player who engages in minor physical interference with a match official will be suspended from all GAA for 12 weeks.

On the off-chance you haven't yet seen it, you can view the incident here.

Speaking to Dublin Live earlier today, Kerry legend Marc Ó Sé begged to question as to why Dublin would appeal the ban at all, given the obvious evidence of Connolly's infraction, however mild it was.

I suppose we're all wondering why he's appealing. Maybe Dublin know something that we don't know and that he has a chance of getting off.

Time will tell if the Dubs do in fact know something that the rest of the country doesn't, or if this was indeed just a total waste of time.
