Former Dublin manager Paul 'Pillar' Caffrey has heavily criticised Diarmuid Connolly after a sideline incident involving the linesman during Dublin's victory over Carlow.
Connolly became involved in a bit of argy-bargy with a number of Carlow players in an attempt to get the ball back for a sideline, but lightly shoved the linesman when possession was awarded Carlow's way. You can view the incident here.
One man who's seen it plenty since is the former boys in blue boss Caffrey, who maintains Connolly should have been sent off for his actions in Portlaoise.
Writing in his Mirror column, Caffrey slammed Connolly for letting his teammates down, and questioned his mentality within the context of his vast experience at inter-county level.
I think he'll be cited and will face disciplinary action. If that happens, there's only one suspension for what he did - a 12-week ban.
It really was a moment of madness - it nearly brought me back to that Paul Galvin incident a few years ago...
He's 30 years of age now. It's 10 years since he made his Dublin debut. Let's put it in context - Dublin are going to win this match one way or the other by 10-plus points and he's arguing over a line ball midway through the second-half.
He should have been sent off for putting his hand on the linesman. It's crazy, a total lack of discipline. I'd feel very strongly that he's let his teammates down.
Connolly would face a minimum of 12 weeks out if the rules are implemented, and therefore be ruled out up until a prospective All-Ireland final.
