Tipperary flexed their muscles this afternoon, and showed that this particular head that wears the crown shows no sign of drooping: they had far too much firepower for Wexford in their league semi-final, outscoring the Model county 5-18 to 1-19.
Of Tipp's myriad goals, the second angered Davy Fitzgerald to such an extent he strayed onto the field to confront the referee. On his way back, he charged into a couple of Tipperary players. Despite his indiscretions, Fitzgerald was allowed to remain on the sideline for the rest of the game.
Post-match, Fitzgerald spoke to Tg4 about the game, and was upbeat at the end of a league campaign that began with Fitzgerald preaching caution about relegation.
Host Michael O'Domhnall asked Fitzgerald about his pitch invasion, assuming that Fitzgerald wouldn't repeat the trick. Fitzgerald disagreed: saying that he didn't regret his actions, before going on to explain why he did it.
