The Clifford brother capped off a remarkable 2022 this afternoon, leading Fossa to a 1-17 to 1-6 victory over Cork's Killmurry in the Munster club junior final in Mallow.
It was a game the Kerry champions entered as strong favourites and it quickly became apparent as to why that was the case. Despite an excellent effort from Kilmurry, they couldn't live with the firepower in the opposition forward line.
David and Paudie Clifford would reign supreme. By the end of the game, they would combine for 1-14 (0-1o for David and 1-4 for Paudie). Another notch in the belt for the two lads.
It has been some year for them. Between their exploits with Fossa, East Kerry, and Kerry, they have won just about every honour available to them. David can also add a Footballer of the Year gong to go one better than his brother.
In 2022, David Clifford has won:
🏆 McGrath Cup
🏆 NFL Division 1
🏆 Munster SFC
🏆 All-Ireland
🏆 Kerry Senior Club Championship
🏆 Kerry junior championship
🏆 Munster junior championship
🏆 All-Star
🏆 Footballer of the year

While his sibling would kick the majority of the scores on the day, Paudie Clifford is perhaps the one that produced the most memorable highlight.
With the game gone into injury time, he would pull off a cheeky backheel into the net from close range to put an extra bit of emphasis on the scoreline.
Cheeky finish from Paudie Clifford to seal the deal for Fossa who powered past Kilmurry in the 3rd quarter.

Fossa will now prepare for an All-Ireland semi-final in the new year.
Considering the quality they have, you'd have to fancy them to go all the way and win an All-Ireland. At this point, you just have to assume that a team that features Paudie and David Clifford are going to win any given competition that they partake in.
For now, they will will likely be putting their feet up to for a well earned break over the festive period. From there, it won't be long until they start adding to their trophy cabinet in 2023.
