Fresh from his senior debut for Kerry, David Clifford struck 1-4 as 9/2 underdogs IT Tralee landed a major win against Queen’s University, their first Electric Ireland Sigerson Cup win in 11 years.
The final score was 2-8 to 0-11 with Clifford landing four points from frees and a punched goal to lead IT Tralee into the quarter-finals.
Clifford's much-anticipated debut was a highly publicised affair but the inside-forward did not look overawed by it as he assisted a new-look Kerry side to overcome Donegal in the League opener.
In the face of monumental pressure, Clifford elected to play a selfless role working tirelessly inside and laying off for his surrounding team-mates to score. Today he took a more leading role and assumed full free-taking duties.

For Queens, Lorcan Connor landed 0-6 including 0-3 from play but it was to no avail. Connor was a member of the strong Donegal U21 side last year.
IT Tralee will now advance to play either DIT or Carlow.
