Fossa secured a massive victory in the Kerry Intermediate Championship yesterday, with David Clifford inspiring them to a 1-14 to 0-13 victory over Kerins O'Rahillys in their quarter-final meeting at Strand Road.

Traditionally a senior club, many would have fancied Kerins O'Rahillys to make an immediate return to the senior ranks this year following their relegation in 2023.

However, their stay in the second tier will be extended for at least one more season after their loss to Fossa yesterday. Last year's intermediate finalists would race to a 1-4 to 0-0 lead early on in the game, and with David Clifford providing a personal tally of 0-5 (0-2 from frees) in the game, they would manage to hang on for a four-point victory in the second half.

While Clifford's five points would prove to be pivotal in the match, his most impressive contribution came via an assist.

David Clifford is capable of producing scarcely believable moments of skill on the football pitch, with yesterday's match providing another example.

It came in the form of a pass to one of his teammates, with the Kerry star going on a strong forward run before ending up on the ground after colliding with an opposition defender. When the ball then dropped his way, Clifford would produce a no look pass from the floor to one of his teammates who would duly kick a point.

Absolutely sensational stuff.

Having lost out in last year's intermediate final, Fossa will be hoping to go one better in this year's championship. With talents such as the Clifford brothers in the side, they are capable of beating any team on their day.

It will be interesting to see how the remainder of the competition plays out.
