Magherafelt won their first Derry senior football title in 41 years on Sunday. The O'Donovan Rossa side beat the Glen by a point - 0-12 to 0-11 - at Celtic Park.
Speaking to BBC Sport Nothern Ireland's Thomas Niblock, Magherafelt captain Danny Heavron said he prayed to his late mother during the closing stages of a tight game.
"I was praying to Mammy, that she would see it through," said an emotional Heavron. "It's as simple as that."
The 30-year-old added that Sunday is a day he and his teammates will always remember.
"It's strange to say this but in 50, 60, 70 years when you're burying your friends, you'll always look back on this day.
"This is a day when you're sitting around in a wake house and you'll say, 'Can you believe we won a championship in 2019?' This is what it means to us boys.
"We're a family, every community is a family. This is just something special. You know my personal issues, everybody has personal issues. Thankfully, we've done it for them people today.
"You look up to people like Gerry O'Loughlin and you think, 'Will you ever [win a county title]?' and I thought would never. It means absolutely everything. That's all I can say, absolutely everything."
