Crossmaglen Rangers reached the semi finals of the Armagh senior football championship in farcical fashion tonight. Their opponents, Dromintee, were massively depleted due a wedding - their team was so makeshift that three of them took the field wearing jeans.
It is not known whether the three in question chose to start the match in denim out of genuine protest or the fact that they have not worn shorts in public since 1989. It was not the first time we've seen streetwear on the GAA field. Far from it.
The game finished 1-8 to 0-0. Unsurprisingly, the county board's decision to proceed with the 'contest' on the night prokoved some scathing criticism on social media.

1/3 Disappointing lack of common sense from @Armagh_GAA CCC to ignore @drominteegac representations for fixture accommodation this weekend — Aidan O'Rourke (@AidanORourke) September 19, 2014
3/3 simple logic could have helped all. No blame with opponents. reality is we will be significantly weakened & may struggle to field Friday
