Cora Staunton continues to wreath Gaelic games in glory: this is her 23rd season of inter-county football. The subsequent numbers do nothing to suspend astonishment: a senior debut at the age of 13, four All-Ireland s with Mayo, five All-Ireland club titles, three National Leagues, and 10 All-Stars.
Staunton is arguably one of the sport's greatest ever players, and her career should not solely judged by the numbers above. She has also had an intangible effect on football in Mayo, and it was exhibited at Croke Park yesterday.
Lee Keegan was launching the Cúl Camps at Croker yesterday, and Keegan was asked to give his memories of the GAA Summer Camps of his youth.
He remembers being coached by Staunton above all else:
