Clare will be hoping it is a case of third time lucky when they contest the Munster SHC final against Limerick for the third season on the spin this Sunday.
The Banner have been the greatest threat to Limerick's provincial dominance since 2018 - losing a thriller in extra-time in 2022 before suffering a single-point defeat last summer.
Brian Lohan's men ensured their latest crack at silverware with victory against Tipperary in the final phase of the round-robin.
While Limerick are looking to win the Mick Mackey Cup for the sixth time in a row, Clare are in the midst of a drought that extends all the way back to 1998.
They are, however, the Allianz League champions and are widely viewed as the greatest threat to a Limerick team which has already tasted defeat against Cork this Championship.
Brendan Cummins warns of Clare form ahead of Munster final
One issue could hinder their hopes however, according to former Tipperary goalkeeper Brendan Cummins.
While Clare seemed to go about their business in an efficient manner, they were not as convincing as years past in landing a top two finish in Munster.
Clare began the round-robin with a three-point home defeat to Limerick before benefitting from a red card against Cork to claim a two-point win.
Their round three victory against Waterford came in contentious circumstances, with the nature of Mark Rodgers' match-winning '65 prompting plenty of debate.
They did cast a crestfallen Tipp aside in the final round of fixtures, but failed to put them under it like both Limerick and Cork had in their emphatic wins.
Speaking on the RTE GAA Podcast, Cummins stressed that Clare are not in the ominous form that would have worried Limerick in previous seasons.
The other factor there is form," he said.
"I don't think Clare are going as well this year as they were the last two years. They seem to be stuttering a small bit.
"I saw them below in Ennis against Waterford and when they got ahead they just didn't put them away.
"The ferocity that we would have seen in previous years when they are just a frenzy. They are searching for it and haven't really found it.
"I still don't think Clare are coming into this one as full of buzz as they would have been last year or the year before and that is a little bit of a concern for them."
Clare will take confidence from their healthy squad list, with star man Tony Kelly racking up minutes in recent weeks.
Limerick are the side with greater concerns on the injury front, while underdogs Clare are not going to be burdened by the weight of expectation on the day.
One suspects they will need to find a new gear however, the level of which has ran Limerick so close in the last two seasons.
