Clare football hero Gary Brennan has completed a move to Limerick club Ahane, the home of his wife Niamh.
A dual player at club level, Brennan has already lined out for the Ahane hurlers in a recent challenge game, as he adjusts to life at his new club. The news of his move was broken by the Irish Examiner on Wednesday evening.
Brennan was a staple of the Clare senior football team during the 2010s, earning an All-Star nomination in 2016 for his efforts as the Banner reached the All-Ireland quarter-finals.
At club level, Brennan played football for Clondegad and hurling for Ballyea. He earned particular praise from Clare hurling star Tony Kelly in 2021 after he played a crucial role in Ballyea claiming the county title.

Former Clare star Gary Brennan moves to Limerick club Ahane
News of Brennan's move to Limerick club Ahane filtered through this week, as he joins the club which is home to his wife Niamh (née Mulcahy).
2007 Camogie Young Player of the Year Mulcahy is a hero at the club and was a mainstay of the Limerick side during the 2010s, where she rose to similar hero status at county level.
Brennan's arrival as a dual star will be welcome news for Ahane, who will in 2024 look to claim their first Limerick SHC title in 20 years. They have had to wait much longer for a football title, with their last Limerick senior crown coming in 1939.
Dan and Tom Morrissey are the biggest names on Ahane's hurling roster, and both have also lined out for the club's footballers in recent years. Gary Brennan is likely to join them on the club's junior football team.
Elsewhere, Kerry hurling star Fionan Mackessy is expected to join Kilkenny club O'Loughlin Gaels.
Mackessy will join the All-Ireland finalists from St. Brendans, and club chairman Ger Hussey bemoaned the loss of an intercounty star from the club in the Kerry Eye newspaper:
Fionan will be a massive loss to St Brendans because he was always a player well ahead of his time.
We wish him the best and to be fair he said he had to try it.
He said that other fellas didn’t do it and he said he might regret it if he didn’t give it a go. I wished him all the best and look what more can you say once he has decided to go. I told him if he ever wants to come back to St Brendans we will welcome him back with open arms.
