Cork's Ciaran Sheehan has become the latest Gaelic footballer to head for Australia with the announcement that he has signed a two year deal with the Carlton Blues. He leaves for Melbourne this January.
He will hope to follow in the footsteps of Zach Touhy who has nailed down a starting place with the Blues. Louth's Ciaran Byrne is also on the books at Carlton.
Sheehan spent four weeks in Carlton during the summer of 2009 before returning home due to homesickness. The forward returned home, lining out as Cork claimed the All-Ireland in 2010, defeating Down.
It's been a rough few months for Cork football with exoduses galore. The departure of Sheehan is another blow.
