As the rain pelted down in Salthill, Roscommon shocked Connacht final favourites Galway with a brilliant goal from Cian Connolly.
The Rossies had already built a four-point lead after 13 minutes at Pearse Stadium before Diarmuid Murtagh arrowed a superb crossfield ball to Connolly who had taken up position in the full forward line.

After taking possession, Connolly's job was not straightforward. He still had the attentions of fullback Declan Kyne to deal with.
Isolated against Kyne, Connolly created space and then hit a super left-footed strike beyond the reach of Ruairi Lavelle in the Galway goal.
As good a goal you'll see. The pass the movement the finish. Top class from Ros!

Roscommon took a 1-7 to 0-3 lead into the break. It was an advantage they extended in the second half, eventually winning 2-15 to 0-12, despite Galway having a strong wind at their backs.
