Kerry came out on top in yesterday's Allianz Football League Division 1 match against Roscommon but the big story coming out of it was the injury to Jason Foley. The fullback went off injured with just over ten minutes to go with a suspected ankle injury.
Despite this Kerry were able to come out six point winners at Dr Hyde Park after six points from David Clifford and an injury time goal from Joe O'Connor saw them win 1-17 to 1-11. However some Kerry fans are wondering if an incident in the second half might have contributed to Jason Foley's injury.
The incident in question took place with twenty minutes left on the clock. Roscommon were trying to mount a comeback and it looked to be on after a goal from Cathal Heneghan. On closer inspection after the goal was scored Heneghan appears to have stepped on Foley's ankle and Foley writhed around in pain, clutching his right ankle. Close up footage of the incident shows how painful it must have been for him. After some time on the ground he was able to get up and play on.

However, just five minutes later Foley jumped for the ball with Roscommon's Niall Daly. As the pair landed Foley again clutched his right ankle and was subsequently substituted and pictured in a protective boot.
Jason Foley's Importance to Kerry
The injury was described as a serious one by Kerry manager Jack O'Connor saying "The only downer today was Jason Foley. It looks like a bad one." There is currently no timeline on when Foley may return and his injury will be assessed. Jason Foley is an important man for Kerry as Peter Canavan outline on The Sunday Game.
If you go back a couple of years Joanne, when Kerry won the All-Ireland it was based on a really solid defensive spine with Tadhg Morley, with Jason Foley and he was brilliant at fullback and often he was the man that had to cancel out the key forward in the opposition team. Kerry, they'll get through Munster without Jason but they will certainly need him for the All-Ireland campaign moving forward.
The extent of Jason Foley's injury is unknown though Peter Canavan says if the full-back is out for a time, Kerry will have to shuffle their pack
