Bernard Brogan has been training with Dublin this week just four months after he suffered a serious injury.
On a Thursday evening in February, while training ahead of a league game against Donegal, Brogan ruptured his cruciate ligament. It was the second time in his career that the 34-year-old had suffered the injury
"It's great to see Bernard Brogan back on the pitch again," Dublin manager Jim Gavin told Dubs TV.
"It's really positive for the team and for Bernard - he's doing trojan work behind the scenes. Hopefully, we'll still be in the competition when he returns."
Brogan told Balls late last month that he was aiming to be back on the training pitch alongside his Dublin teammates within three to four weeks - he has certainly hit that target.
He also said that an early August return to action is the goal. That timeline would have him back for the final round of Super 8 games with the All-Ireland semi-finals to follow a week later.
If the five-time All-Ireland winner does return to action just five-and-a-half months after sustaining the injury, he will have done so through remarkable dedication to his recovery.
"If you start just thinking about August and keep ticking away, it's very hard to motivate yourself," Brogan said at the launch of Super Valu's Behind The Ball campaign.
So I've broken it into weekly goals and what do I want to get out of it.
I'm keeping a diary of each week and saying what my goal is and what do I want to get through that week.
