If I were to ask you to find a more dramatic ending to a GAA match this week, you would be wasting a lot of precious time, especially during a bank holiday weekend. Look no further than today's Dr Harty Cup final.
It’s the third year in a row that there are first-time Dr Harty Cup champions - Nenagh CBS follow Cashel CS and ST Joseph's Tulla. Nenagh's win their first title with a 2-16 to 0-21 victory over Ardscoil Rís, securing the win dramatically thanks to a last-gasp goal by wing-back Andy Hoolan to secure hero status.
The drama unfolded deep into stoppage time in Cusack Park in Ennis and on Clubber TV when Ciaran Foley sent a long-range free in the direction of the Ardscoil square in the 63rd minute of the game.
The Tipp school were two behind and knew it was a goal or nothing.
Their first attempt at the goal was by Brian O’Meara, who shot from outside the 20-metre line but was denied by a super save by ‘keeper Fionn O’Brien.
Instead of panicking and losing their heads, the young hurlers kept their cool and once more played a dangerous ball into the Ardscoil square, which resulted in the famous goal.
ABSOLUTE SCENES 😱@CBSNenagh, down 2 points, find the net in added time to win their first ever Dr. Harty Cup - UNBELIEVABLE!

The commentary from Paul Carroll was suitably bananas.

Darragh McCarthy, who has been lighting up the Tipp senior championship for his club Toomevara, was the driving force for the winners, with the captain hitting seven points for Nenagh.
It has been a dramatic rise for the school as they were eliminated in the group stages on score difference as De La Salle snatched a dramatic added time goal to book their place in the knockouts.
Their fifth final appearance turned out to be the sweetest of them all, and they duly celebrated. Can they go one further and claim the All-Ireland title?
