The monstrous American sports site Barstool Sports popped down to Gaelic Park recently to capture a hurling game between local sides Tipperary and Hoboken, to learn more about The Great Game. There is the usual eejitry about being shocked by exaggerated tales of violence, failing to understand the Irish accent, ambient jaunty diddly-dee music and popping to the bar midway through, but they did capture some genuinely good footage during the game.
After a schemozzle which our American host failed to accurately describe as a schemozzle, one of the coaches was captured roaring "you have no respect for me! you have no idea! You're a piece of shit! You don't where you're fucking from!" at someone.
Afterward, the American host asked Tipp's Conor Higgins how he had become so good at hurling.
Ah I didn't do much. Smoked fags and drank beer, and that's about it!
