Remember when meath's Graham Geraghty went to Arsenal and he was fitter than the entire squad put together? That may well be an exaggeration but the story has developed that Geraghty was brought over for a trial and wowed the professionals (or Paul Merson at least) with his fitness.
It may be 20 years later but the link between fitness in GAA and Arsenal looks set to continue with Mayo's strength and conditioning coach, Barry Solan, joining the Gunners in a similar capacity.

Solan, from Ballaghaderreen, has gained an impressive reputation in Ireland having also worked with the Kildare and Laois footballers. He's now set to take that experience over to Arsenal with his new position allowing him to continue his work with Mayo through to the end of the Championship campaign.
