Austin Gleeson says that neither he nor his Waterford teammates have had any contact with newly appointed Deise hurling manager Davy Fitzgerald.
The Clareman, who earlier this month took the Waterford reins for the second time, was at Fraher Field in Dungarvan on Sunday for a SHC quarter-final double-header.
In a Man of the Match performance, Gleeson scored 1-6 for Mount Sion as his side defeated Lismore 1-27 to 0-13.
"No, no, I haven't heard anything as of yet anyway," Gleeson told TG4 when asked if he'd heard from Fitzgerald.
"I'm not sure if any of the other players have either. I've been talking to a few of them, and they haven't.
"With the club on, he's probably looking at the club trying to get new players. It's going to be an interesting few months ahead. We're happy that he's there."
Waterford 'just folded' in 2022
Fitzgerald replaced Liam Cahill as Waterford manager. After three seasons, Cahill departed the role to become manager of his native Tipperary. His final season with Waterford ended in disappointment as the county failed to progress beyond the Munster Championship.
"We have a good enough team, a nice mix of young and old," said Gleeson.
"We just have to perform. It's up to us to perform. We were in condition to do that last year, but we didn't - it's that simple. We just folded. The other teams we came up against really brought their A-game, and we couldn't compete with them. We won the league, but at the end of the day, it meant absolutely nothing because we did nothing in the championship.
"We went for the league, and maybe we got a bit more confidence than we needed to have. Championship was extremely disappointing. Everyone feels that. Hopefully there's a hungry bunch there when we're ready to go back."
Mount Sion's big win on Sunday added to 17-point and 16-point victories in their previous two games against Abbeyside-Ballinacourty and Tallow, respectively.
"It's a big thing that we've tried to emphasise this year because in previous years we might play well in one game and fall away in another game," said Gleeson.
"It was just about trying to get that consistency, which we have, thankfully. We're in the semi-final, the same place we were last year. We have to get back to the nitty-gritty now Tuesday, work hard again, and be ready for next week.
"[Ballygunner] they're the All-Ireland champions for a reason - they're unbelievable. They're after winning eight in a row down here. Their underage system is incredible. I'm involved underage [with Mount Sion], and they're always the team to beat.
"Roanmore, De La Salle, and ourselves are going to be out for them. Someone has to try and [beat them], it's a massive task. We'll give it a go, and hopefully we can be as close to them as last year, and go one step further."
