Here's a must-watch for all Armagh fans. It's the day that Joe Kernan avenged his 1977 All-Ireland Final defeat to the Dublin when he returned to Croke Park as manager, and downed Tommy Lyons' charges in an all-time classic.
It was to be a pivotal day for this exceptional Armagh team who would go on to win their only All-Ireland title a couple of weeks later. For The Dubs, it was another case of the nearly men. They wouldn't get closer to a final again until the breakthrough finally came in 2011.
The two teams lined out as follows:
Armagh:
Benny Tierney;
Francie Bellew, Justin McNulty, Enda McNulty;
Aidan O'Rourke, Kieran McGeeney, Andrew McCann;
John Toal, Paul McGrane;
Paddy McKeever, John McEntee, Oisin McConville;
Steven McDonnell, Diarmuid Marsden, Ronan Clarke.
Dublin:
Stephen Cluxton;
Barry Cahill, Paddy Christie, Coman Goggins;
Paul Casey, Johnny Magee, Peadar Andrews;
Ciaran Whelan, Darren Magee;
Senan Connell, Dessie Farrell, Shane Ryan;
Alan Brogan, John McNally, Ray Cosgrove.
