Armagh's Kevin Dyas went to the effort of showing up at Croke Park for the media launch promoting the final two qualifier matches of the 2014 championship, but refused to speak to the media.

That he didn't speak was down to a diktat laid down by his manager Paul Grimley.

Grimley, who has had a rancorous relationship with the national media since he took the Armagh job, has instituted a gagging order to which all Armagh players must adhere. Grimley was particularly enraged by Joe Brolly (entertainer, not an analyst) ridiculing his managerial performance after Armagh were dispatched by a profligate Cavan in the 2013 championship.

Grimley did speak to Newstalk's Billy-Joe Padden straight after the Roscommon qualifier, but made it clear (on at least three occasions during the interview) that he was only doing so because it was Billy-Joe Padden.

Very short-sightedly, no media organisation decided to send Padden down to this media launch, so the Billy-Joe exception clause was not triggered on this occasion.
