It had seemed like the civil war in Galway hurling would brought to a merciful conclusion following manager Anthony Cunningham's resignation Monday night. However, as if anticipating Cunningham's strongly-worded statement upon resigning, the Galway players wrote up their own incendiary statement which they asked be read before Monday's county board meeting.
The statement makes many specific and potentially-damaging claims about Cunningham as a manager.
The statement had been doing the rounds on social media all week before popping up online last night.
Given the one-sided nature of the statement, Balls.ie spoke to Anthony Cunningham on Thursday morning about the allegations made against him in the statement.
Cunningham emphatically denied the contents of the letter and said it included many false allegations against him.
A well-placed source close to Galway hurling claimed that Cunningham was considering taking legal action against anyone who published the statement.
Cunningham could not be reached for comment today.
