Yet another Irish player has returned to these shores after spending time playing Australian Rules down under.
As had been widely speculated over the Christmas period, Kildare native Daniel Flynn has cut short his two-year contract with Port Adelaide, he will try to work his way back into the Lilywhite set-up. The 21-year-old was previously a key member of Kildare's 2013 U21 Leinster winning team and was the first Irish player to be recruited from Tadhg Kennelly's DCU combine.
Speaking to The Irish Times, Kildare manager Jason Ryan, seemed to suggest Flynn will find his way into the team when he is ready.
He’s not in the panel at the moment, but we’re talking and meeting and everything, we speak regularly and his return is something that will fall into place.
I suppose he’s settling back into normal life now, and he is doing a bit of training with his club and a bit of his own training, so hopefully he’ll be back training with us in the next few weeks.
Looks he’s a very talented man and he made a big impact over there. You’d imagine he’d have learnt an awful lot, about honing certain skills, and a lot physically after exploring a professional lifestyle. So he should be a great addition.
With the Lilywhite's first Championship game not taking place until June 6th, away to Laois or Carlow, the county will be hopeful Flynn is ready to rejoin the squad in time for their push for the Delaney Cup.
