After running Mickey Harte's Tyrone all the way to the end of extra-time this evening in Páirc Tailteann, Andy McEntee had reason to be proud of his Meath side.
Yet, speaking to Sky Sports after the 2-14 to 0-19 point defeat, "devastation" was all that was on McEntee's mind.
Disgusted with the late decision (among others) of referee Paddy Neilan not to award his side a free-kick that could have leveled the tie at the very death, McEntee found it hard to contain himself in the immediate aftermath.
Discussing Neilan's performance, McEntee didn't hold back:
The reason you're asking me that question is because you know that there is a lot of unsatisfactory incidents out there.
There was a penalty, I've just seen it on the cameras, [and] the referee is less than 10 yards away. There is a free, on the stroke of full-time, and the referee is 5 yards away.
There's only one reason you're asking me this question, and that's because you know what the answer is.
Reflecting the general consternation of the gathered Meath fans, McEntee will take some satisfaction in a stellar performance from his less than fancied side.
