Clare are All-Ireland hurling champions for the first time in 11 years, overcoming Cork in after a thrilling final at Croke Park. There was nothing to separate the sides all afternoon, with the game being decided via extra-time. In the end, The Banner would run out as 3-29 to 1-34 winners.

It was an incredible game of hurling, one that featured two brilliant teams. They went tit for tat throughout the match, producing some iconic scores along the way.

Normal time could not separate the sides, with a late Cork free sending the contest to extra-time.

There was little between them from that stage on either, although Clare would open up a three-point lead in the closing stages. A pair of points from Patrick Horgan closed that gap to one point, but they would then go on to hit a wide with the last puck of the ball.

In the end, Clare did enough to claim their first All-Ireland in over a decade.

Controversy Over Missed Free In Dying Seconds Of All-Ireland Hurling Final

Losing out in that manner seems incredibly harsh on Cork when you consider the performance they produced in the game, but it was even worse when you look at that final play of the game.

Robbie O'Flynn produced a stunning catch to give himself an opportunity to hit the levelling score, only for his shot to then go wide. However, replays showed a clear jersey pull as he was about to take the strike, meaning Cork should have been given a free that would have levelled the contest.

RTÉ commentator Michael Duignan was clearly very annoyed over the missed call, one that stopped Cork from earning an All-Ireland final replay.

What this, there's a jersey pull here. That's a jersey pull.

I didn't get the chance to get back in, I saw Patrick Horgan going to the ref, I saw it in real time.

His jersey was pulled. It should have been a free in, tap it over, draw match. It's absolutely unbelievable.

I feel so sorry for Patrick Horgan and Seamus Harnedy in particular, but delighted for [Brian] Lohan.

This was certainly a poor decision from the referee, one that would have given Cork another opportunity to lift the Liam MacCarthy in a couple of weeks.

While that takes nothing away from Clare, it will leave a sour taste in the mouth of fans from the Rebel County.
