In a what could be a massive blow to Kilkenny's All-Ireland hopes, Independent.ie is reporting this morning that Adrian Mullen could miss today's final due to illness.

The nailed on favourite for young hurler of the year has been a revelation this year and already has an All-Ireland medal in his back pocket, after winning the club championship with Ballyhale Shamrocks, but the Cats may have to make do without him against Tipperary.

According to sources in the Independent.ie, Mullen has spent some days in hospital and is in serious danger of missing out.

Although he will no doubt have many more opportunities to light up on an All-Ireland final, it will be a real shame if we don't get to see Mullen's talents in what could be a match for the ages later today.
