Craig Lennon was compared to Lee Keegan and Colm Boyle after another sensational display for Louth on Sunday.

The Louth footballers have been the story of the summer and the St Mochta's wing back has been a star.

He continued his fine season in their 1-10 to 1-9 victory over Cork, collecting the man-of-the-match award after scoring 0-2 and winning the match-winning free which Sam Mulroy slotted.

The win sees Louth through their first ever All-Ireland quarter final, taking on Donegal in Croke Park next weekend.

Donegal have earned rave reviews for their running game this summer with Peadar Mogan in particular standing out but Ger Brennan has a similar player in his ranks in Lennon, who is just 23.

He impressed in last year's Championship with his brilliant goal against Meath showcasing his talent and he has continued his progression this season.

With a remarkable 4-6 to his name in the championship, including a brace of goals against Meath and another against Dublin, Lennon has been one of the players of the championship so far.

Speaking on The Sunday Game, Lee Keegan compared him to his old Mayo team-mate Colm Boyle.

"He's having a brilliant season," said Keegan.

"I just love his angles of running, the way he comes onto the ball at massive pace.

"He reminds me of a couple of young wing backs, playing with Colm Boyle and these lads," said Keegan.

"Everything about him. He brings an injection of pace. He's a really attacking wing back, but he doesn't panic and he's been at it all year.

"He drove out at the end," Keegan said of his energy to win the late free, "the free was probably on the soft side. But it was his intent to win the game again."

Eamon Fitzmaurice and Jacqui Hurley went onto compare him to a 'young Lee Keegan.'

Ger Brennan also hailed Lennon after Louth's win over Meath, describing him as a 'super talent.'

"Craig is a super talent," Brennan said.

“He’s certainly playing with a lot of confidence and is a guy who has had multiple injuries. The work he puts in behind the scenes with the medical team is second to none."

Keegan also praised Brennan for the job he has done with the team.

"It's brilliant and I've said it numerous times during the year that the job Ger Brennan has done with the group, you can see they're buying into the system," he said.
