The global conspiracy to prevent there being a hurling championship match in Salthill continues into 2017.
In their desire to get at least one home championship game back in Galway, the county board offered Offaly home advantage for this weekend's game in exchange for a match in Salthill next time out.
The Offaly county board refused. The match has been scheduled for Portlaoise this Sunday. The two teams last met in Portlaoise in the 2012 championship, with Galway winning on a crushing scoreline of 5-23 to 3-15.
Galway county board chair Noel Treacy told Martin Breheny in the Irish Independent today that they intend to 'reboot' the issue and may seek to get Croke Park involved.
Galway's presence in Leinster is itself the result of a Croke Park diktat as the majority of Leinster counties had opposed their entry back in 2009.
Either way, here is the complete rundown of home games the Galway hurlers have played in the past 40 years.
Against top tier hurling counties
2011 - Galway 4-25 Clare 0-20
Galway recover from a bad defeat against Dublin in their surrogate home ground of Tullamore with a demolition of Clare in Salthill.
Joe Canning blasts home one of his more giffable efforts as Galway kill off the game in the first half. The last game of Ger O'Loughlin's forgettable reign as inter-county manager.
2003 - Galway 1-17 Tipperary 1-18
For whatever reason, Galway were not permitted a second chance despite exiting against Tipp in the second round of the qualifiers.
