2017 was the year of Galway. A League title, a Leinster Championship, and finally, victory in September, winning the All-Ireland for the first time since 1988.

This morning, their outstanding achievements have been matched with seven of their players being named in the 2017 PwC All-Star Hurling Team.

It's Galway's joint biggest All-Star haul of all time, matching only that great year of '88.

2016 All-Stars Daithi and David Burke return to the team in 2017. Alongside them this year are first time winners Padraic Mannion, Gearóid McInerney, Conor Cooney, and Conor Whelan, while Joe Canning wins his fourth award, and his first since 2012.

Joe's fourth accolade matches his brother Ollie, who was part of the All-Star team four times between 2001 and 2009.

For captain David Burke, it's also a fourth All-Star, and a third in a row, capping of just how important a player he has been for Galway in recent years.

Elsewhere, beaten All-Ireland finalists Waterford receive five All-Star awards.

Michael "Brick" Walsh will be the recipient of his fourth All-Star, and his first since 2010, while Kevin Moran will also be back on the stage on Friday night after a five year absence. There's a deserved third award for Noel Connors at corner-back, a second for the outstanding Jamie Barron, while Stephen O'Keeffe is a first time winner at goalkeeper.

Cork have two representatives on the team, from both ends of the career spectrum. Patrick Horgan adds to his 2013 awards, while 19 year old wing back Mark Coleman caps his debut season for Cork with an All-Star.

Padraig Maher of Tipperary makes up the 15, his county's only representative on the All-Star team 12 months after dominating the 2016 teams. For Paudie, it's his fifth award in just nine years.
