Jonny Cooper has today tweeted a statement on the brutal attack on him in Dorset Street over a week ago. Cooper's statement comes in the wake of Gardaí arrested a suspect yesterday, with the Dublin footballer presents a hugely positive outlook.

The suspect – who was being held in Cloverhill prison in relation to a different crime – was brought to Mountjoy Garda Station yesterday and can be held without charge for up to 24 hours. According to the Irish Independent, the arrest has been made following a study of the CCTV footage, a forensic examination of the scene and following ‘valuable assistance’ from the public.
