Your calendar might say May, 2015 but in classic GAA fashion the 2014 Kerry County League division one final was played on Saturday at Connolly Park in Tralee.
The county's two best teams went toe to toe as county champions Austin Stacks took on Dr. Crokes. Despite finishing as top scorer with eight points, Colm Cooper would end up on the losing side as Kieran Donaghy's influence at full forward for Austin Stacks proved the difference.
Right from the throw in a long ball was launched into Donaghy who tipped it past the Crokes keeper. Long balls into the big man would be a feature of the game. He was brought down for a penalty, which was missed by Shane O'Callaghan and then in extra time caused havoc for the decisive goal.
The game finished 2-9 to 0-13, after extra time, to Austin Stacks.
