Ballygunner were playing Ballyduff Upper in the first round of the Waterford Senior Hurling Championship.
The 22-year-old's free taking accuracy has been a key factor in Waterford's recent revival under Derek McGrath. This injury is a huge blow just four weeks away from their Munster Championship opener against Cork.
