Last Monday night saw Joe Brolly unleash a volley of artillery on Mickey Harte. In response to the Tyrone manager's claim that football teams and managers were not in the business of entertainment, Brolly directed him to instead play behind closed doors.
Well then fuck off and play behind closed doors if you’re not in the business of entertainment. Have you ever heard such a perverse thing?
Brolly was talking to 2FM's Hugh Cahill regarding what some had called the death of football with Dublin's 0-8 to 0-4 Allianz League win over Derry. In his Sunday Independent column, the former inter-county player railed against what he believes is the "win at all costs" mentality which has taken a stranglehold on Gaelic football.
The RTÉ analyst states that a "small number of out of control managers" are responsible for this and goes on to cite Mickey Harte and Derry manager Brian McIvor as two prime culprits.
He even goes as far as to say that Harte should be sacked.
The game is being held to ransom. Mickey Harte, for example, should be sacked by the Tyrone Board for what he has peddled over the last three years.
Harte was not present on Sunday as Tyrone drew with Kerry and were relegated to Division Two of the National League. The county board announced on Friday that he underwent a "surgical procedure on Monday and is now recovering at home" though would "resume his managerial duties with the senior football team in the very near future."
