From the moment news broke on Tuesday about Henry Shefflin's press conference, everyone knew what was coming. The Kilkenny hurlers undoubtedly knew it better than most.

The moment when it became real for Richie Hogan though was when the 10-time All-Ireland winner departed the panel's Whatsapp group.

The group has seen numerous departures since the their All-Ireland win last September with David Herity, Tommy Walsh, JJ Delaney, Brian Hogan and Aidan Fogarty all calling it a day at inter-county level.
