Nearly everytime an Irish player catches a high ball for a try on the rugby pitch, it's credited to skills acquired playing Gaelic Football. It certainly happened when Shane Horgan caught ROG's cross kick against England eight years ago and it happened again today when Robbie Henshaw got on the end of Conor Murray's kick.
People may tire of the attribution but Henshaw himself credited the score to the skill of high fielding mastered on the GAA pitch.
Asked by the BBC about the try, the Irish centre answered:
I thought I had a good chance to just use my Gaelic football skills in the air and claim the ball and just got it down in the end.
Here's Robbie playing for Marist College against Colaiste Iosagáin just over four years ago. The 21-year-old also played midfield for the Westmeath minors.
