It was an all-Ulster affair to decide the destination of this years minor title as Derry took the win over Armagh to become back-to-back minor champions, with those two sides going on to command most of the places in the Electric Ireland GAA Minor Team of the Year.
The team of the year is dominated by the two finalists with five young Oak Leafers selected, while four Armagh players make the team. Connacht champions Mayo and their Munster counterparts Kerry, both beaten in the All-Ireland Minor semi-finals, make up the rest of the team with three players each.
That includes Kobe McDonald, the son of Mayo legend Ciaran McDonald, at centre forward.

This year’s Electric Ireland Minor Star Football Player of the Year was also announced, with Derry's midfielder and captain James Sargent claiming the honour. The Lavey clubman was a standout player throughout this years campaign, scoring a goal in the All-Ireland final as well as being awarded player of the match on the day.
It is no surprise that he also featured in last year’s Electric Ireland Minor Star Football Team of the Year and this years win makes him a back-to-back Minor champion.
The next step for these young footballers is to make an impact at senior level and we'll be keeping a close eye on their progress over the coming years.
