13 counties have players recognised in this year's PwC All-Star football nominations. All-Ireland champions Dublin lead the way with 10 of the 45 nominations.
In the modern era, the 2023 total of 13 counties being represented stands as a high mark. The last time there were this many counties included was in 2008 when there were also 13. Players from 12 counties received the nod on the 2012 list.
The very first year of the GAA All-Stars in 1971 saw 115 players from across 24 counties nominated in football for an award. Over time the selection process has been refined to the current format of 45 names short listed.
The nominees for Footballer and Young Footballer of the Year have also been announced. In the senior category, Dublin's Brian Fenton, Kerry's David Clifford and Derry's Brendan Rogers have been short-listed.
Derry duo Ethan Doherty and Eoin McEvoy along with Roscommon's Conor Carroll are up for the Young Footballer of the Year award.
