This year's All-Ireland quarter-final stage will see a major departure from previous years. In place of the straight knockout format will be two round robin groups of four teams dubbed the Super 8.
The groups will be comprised of the four provincial winners along with four more teams who emerge from the qualifiers.
The new system has been introduced on a three-year trial basis. The make-up of the groups will change on a yearly basis.
In the new system, teams will play one home game, one away game and one game in Croke Park.
The top two teams from each group will progress to the All-Ireland semi-finals on August 11th and 12th.
