This heart-rending letter from Mavis Gallagher to the Wexford hurlers appeared in the Wexford County Football Final programme last weekend. It had been originally posted on the Wexford GAA page back in July but it was so special, it was had to be reproduced for more eyes to see.

It was sent following Wexford's replay victory over Clare in the first round of the All-Ireland qualifiers.
Mavis' father had been diagnosed with cancer earlier in the year. The day before Wexford took on Clare, he took a turn for the worse and his family was told he would leave them by the end of the day. He held on though, and endured for Wexford's victory.
