It was a record-breaking weekend for Newcastle West's Pa O'Dwyer as he romped home to win a fourth consecutive Ireland's Strongest Man competition in Bangor. No man has ever won the competition four years-in-a-row in its thirty year existence.
No man has ever dominated the competition like Pa O'Dwyer did this weekend. O'Dwyer won each of the eight events over the two-day competition, in a field that consisted of past Ireland's Strongest Man winners.

O'Dwyer was so comfortable in victory he was allowed to conserve energy, winning some events with just one rep. He told Balls.ie he gave himself a rest day today, suspending his 10,000 calorie diet for 24 hours ('I'm eating only tea and toast for the day', he told us). He'll be back in the gym tomorrow and will focus his attention on prep for one of the marquee events on the Strongman calendar: the Arnold Classic in South Africa from May 17.
