A recent study at the University of Florida revealed that none of the free fitness apps currently on the market for iPhone and Android fully comply with all of the American College of Sports Medicine exercise guidelines, although one app meets the majority of standards and is a clear winner if you're looking for a free fitness app.
The study compared 30 of the most popular fitness apps available in categories such as the quality of aerobic, resistance, and flexibility training, and an app called 'Sworkit Lite' emerged as a clear winner:

And that's pretty much all there is to it. You can set time limits, and save custom workouts too, and if you're looking for more then there is a paid version of the app, although the free version seems to do pretty much everything you could want from a fitness app.
