Conor McGregor has a clear, simple vision for his MMA career.
It's pretty much, make as much money as he can as quickly can, and so limit his exposure to the debilitating effects of the fight game.
To reach this goal, McGregor has developed an obsession with the sport. If you've ever listened to John Kavanagh speak about the featherweight's work ethic, then you'll have heard anecdotes about text message exchanges in the early hours of the morning discussing techniques and moves McGregor has seen other fighters utilise.
He thinks about his craft 24/7.
In an interview on BT Sport which aired on Tuesday night (watch the full thing here), the 27-year-old explained how this obsession with MMA has pushed all other interests to the margins.
I feel to be at the pinnacle of any game or whatever you do, you've got to be a little bit gone to it - you're not all there. You've got to be almost insane to your craft. Not a lot of people can understand that.
That's why I don't know about anything else. I do not pay attention to anything else. There were games of football on yesterday, there was rugby, there was this, there was that. Normal society is like, let's talk about this. Let's engage in this. I just don't do that.
People are talking to me and in my head I'm counting something, I'm counting up a number or I'm knee-deep in sequence on the mat or on my feet. That's my life, sequences and numbers. Nothing else. I cannot pay attention to nothing else.
McGregor is just a month away from his Las Vegas unification fight with Jose Aldo. His mental block on all things not related to ensuring victory is surely impermeable right now.
