There'll be plenty of people up and down the country feeling a bit worse for wear today following the huge win last night, and who can blame them?
If you're stuck at home following last night's exploits or worse - stuck in work counting down the hours - these hangover tips might just help you get through the rest of your day.
Drink As Much Water As Physically Possible
This is most effective when done the night before but it can usually be quite easy to forget once you eventually arrive home.
When you drink you become severely dehydrated, making water an obvious cure to any post drinking activities. Drinking water is never a bad idea at any time but it's crucial if you want to make it out of bed and onto your couch for the afternoon.
Take Some Painkillers
You most likely have a pounding headache from both screaming and hearing "come on you boys in green" from start to finish to last night.
Painkillers are your friend in this situation so tuck in and make sure to take with water. Try to stick with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs which would include Ibuprofen and Aspirin, stronger painkillers can put a strain on your liver which is already recovering from the night before.
Greasy Food
Get out there and get yourself a full Irish breakfast and don't hold back, the greasier the better. Stuffing your face may seem like a daunting proposition when you're face down in bed but a big hearty meal will help soak up the excess alcohol and set you on the road to recovery.
It is also wise to stuff your face before you hit the sauce too, packing food into your body will delay the release of alcohol into your bloodstream as most of it is absorbed by the food.
Tea and Coffee
Usually the first port of call for those brave enough to get out of bed is the kettle. It doesn't matter whether you're making green tea, regular tea or a cappuccino, a hot drink will set you on your way to hangover recovery.
The caffeine content in coffee is said to aid migraines and headaches. Green tea contains tonnes of anti oxidants which help clear out your liver from the night before.
Get Off Your Ass And Exercise
This is clearly a lot easier to say than do but getting some exercise can help you get over the slump of a hangover.
Unfortunately the classic "sweat it out" theory has been debunked as false but exercising does raise your endorphins level which could go some way to helping.
If you actually manage to work hard enough too maybe you'll end up so tired that you fall back asleep early and sleep off the rest of your pain.
