Zlatan Ibrahimovic came out swinging on Instagram when rumours began to circulate that the knee injury he suffered versus Anderlecht would force him into retirement.
The big Swede has since been to visit one of the world's leading specialists for such ailments, Dr. Freddie H Fu, in the States, and underwent successful surgery on the affected knee earlier this week.
His agent Manuel Raiola has today provided an update on the 35-year-old's status which, had it regarded any other player, might have been scarcely believable. But this is Zlatan, and so, to have expected anything else would have been frankly naive.
According to Raiola, the doctors who operated on Ibrahimovic were so astounded by his 'impossible' physical fitness and condition, they've requested to use him for further research when he retires.
Surgeons at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine are eager to carry out further tests in an attempt to discover how on Earth a man of 35 years could possibly have such a young body.
Raiola told Swedish newspaper Expressen:
His knee is so strong that the doctors said they had never seen anything like it. He has a knee that it is almost impossible for a football player with a 20-year career to have. It was quite clean, there was no harm in it.
Zlatan is so strong that the doctor wants him back after his career to research on him. They work on the world's best research institutions for the knees and ligaments.
They research a lot on the subject and that is why they are better than everyone else, and doctors want back Zlatan to do research on him.
So after Zlatan's career, we will go back and open him up again to do research on his ligaments.
As of yet, there are no plans to introduce Ibrahimovic to the Marvel cinematic universe, but it can surely be only a matter of time before he at least gets a Netflix series.
His future at Manchester United remains unclear, but considering the reported success of his surgery, you wouldn't rule out José Mourinho taking out the option in his striker's one-year deal to extend it for a further year.
