Yesterday evening, reports from France suggested that Man Utd had offered Zlatan Ibrahimovic a one-year deal.

The 34-year-old's time with PSG is coming to an end and he's now looking to enter the final chapters of his career. He will play his last game in France this weekend when PSG take on Marseille in the French Cup final.

He has recently been linked with a move to LA Galaxy. The MLS side already having the maximum three designated players - Robbie Keane, Steven Gerrard and Giovani Dos Santos - has really put a roadblock on that move.

The possibility of him moving to Old Trafford - something which has been rumoured numerous times post-Christmas - has also had the brakes applied.

Ibramhimovic's agent Mino Raiola told Sky Sports that the reports had been 'simply made up'.

Of course, that move to Man Utd could still happen. The Swede remains in superb condition. In 31 Ligue 1 appearances this season, he scored 38 goals. The quality of opposition in France will always be a mitigating factor when judging his performances with PSG. In the far more competitive Champions League, he managed five goals in his ten games as PSG were knocked out in the quarter-final by Man City.

Man Utd signing Ibrahimovic is a move which has the backing of Graeme Souness. He told Sky Sports that the striker could be the 'catalyst' for the return of entertaining football at Old Trafford.

He'd get you on the edge of your seat and would that stadium and that pressure overawe him? Not at all.

I think he could be the catalyst for United to get back to somewhere where you're watching them play the kind of football that you associate with Manchester United - the football that got you on the edge of your seat.

Pay him what he wants, which would be a shed load of money and you'd certainly get one great year out of him and you might even get two great years out of him.
